Journey to a kingdom of golden light and vast blue skies, where space is endless and time stands still.

This camp is named after King Lewanika of the Lozi people, who proclaimed Liuwa Plain a protected area in the early 1880s, making it one of the earliest national parks in Africa.

The only permanent camp in Liuwa Plain National Park, its six open-front luxury safari tents (including a two-bedroom, two-bathroom luxury family tent) are the essence of pure and simple luxury. Built using local techniques and sustainable materials, they run on solar power and are furnished using vintage leather, cotton and canvas—a nod to old-world safari days. Designed to completely immerse you in the vast landscape, each has an indoor and outdoor shower, a comfortable lounge and a verandah, all with stunning views over the plains.

Take a deep breath in as you look out over the curving horizon from the serene main lounge. Warm yourself by the campfire under an endless dome of stars while listening to the legend of Lady Liuwa, matriarch of the local lion pride.

The Liuwa Plain is a photographer’s dream, with every season offering a different backdrop for capturing the robust wildlife. Join our experienced guides on an intimate safari excursion to admire some of Africa’s most spectacular wildlife—including a growing cheetah population—on foot, in a vehicle or by canoe (in season).

Built and operated by Time + Tide, the lodge was conceptualised in collaboration with African Parks, the Zambian Department of National Parks and Wildlife, and the Barotse Royal Establishment.

This is the most magical place you're ever likely to experience. Nestled under a grove of imposing Albida trees, it is clearly favoured by the many elephant who graze on the Albida pods. Their presence adds an incredibly special energy to the camp.

The lodge is stunning and all the staff are utterly wonderful. The views from the lodge are outstanding, lovely Liuwa wilderness. My bedroom was incredibly comfortable, very stylish, hitting a difficult combination of minimalist yet luxury. Incredibly comfortable bed and many relaxing areas to rest.
Mandi, Guest at Time + Tide King Lewanika
Our family had the most joyful time at Chongwe, really everything was perfect and every detail taken care of. The team ensured we had the best time at every activity (even tiger fishing!). We felt privileged to spend a few days here and look forward to returning.

We love safaris and this was an excellent camp with a real authentic bush feel, which we always enjoy. The service was excellent and the team are so attentive. Really superb guiding which made for a tremendous experience.

Chinzombo is a stunning lodge in a beautiful location of the South Luangwa. The rooms are luxurious and spacious, with a deck and plunge pool overlooking the Luangwa River. There is always an abundance of wildlife around the rooms, we had a banded mongoose, bushbuck, elephants and hippo's - just to name a few.
